Configuration example
Cap Control→My sensors→Edit
This is not a mandatory checklist. Once the hardware is installed and the signal verified, you configure your sensors to match your organisation and HACCP constraints. This page shows how we would do it on a typical case.
Typical case: kitchen fridge
A sensor placed in a kitchen fridge, positive cold storage, opened several times a day.
| Setting | Value we chose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name | KITCHEN FRIDGE | Clearly identifies the unit |
| HACCP preset | Dairy | Sensible starting point for a positive fridge |
| Min / max temp. | 0 °C / 4 °C | Breach alert thresholds |
| Target temp. | 2 °C | Setpoint shown on the dashboard |
| Tolerance | ± 1 °C | Band around the target |
| Alert delay | 15 min | Avoids an alert on every door opening |
| Alerts | On | Notifications on breach |
| Reports | On | Included in the daily PDF |
| Active | Yes | Sensor in service |
Your turn: adapt the name, thresholds and delay to your site. The sections below explain each field on the Edit screen.
Identity and assignment
| Field | Role |
|---|---|
| Name | Business label shown everywhere (e.g. "Cold room 1"). |
| Serial no. | Factory identifier. Read-only when editing. |
| Gateway | Device that hears this sensor. Required for readings to come in. |
| Category | Type of unit. The humidity category shows humidity thresholds. |
In our example: name KITCHEN FRIDGE, gateway already linked during installation.
Temperature thresholds
Breach alerts compare each reading to min and max.
| Field | Range | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Min temperature | −100 to 100 °C | Low threshold. |
| Max temperature | −100 to 100 °C | High threshold. Min must be strictly below max. |
| Target temperature | −100 to 100 °C | Desired setpoint (tracking, not the alert trigger). Shown on the dashboard with a smiley. |
| Tolerance (± °C) | 0 to 50 | Band around the target. |
Min and max trigger the alert. An alert fires when temperature leaves [min, max] for longer than the delay. Target and tolerance do not replace min / max.
HACCP presets
Choosing a preset fills min, max and target. You can then fine-tune. In our example, we start from the Dairy preset.
| Preset | Min | Max | Target |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fresh meat | 0 | 4 | 2 |
| Meat — carcasses | 0 | 7 | 3.5 |
| Fresh fish | 0 | 2 | 1 |
| Dairy | 0 | 4 | 2 |
| Freezer | −25 | −18 | −21 |
| Negative cold room | −25 | −12 | −18 |
| Perishable goods | 0 | 8 | 4 |
| Cooked preparations | 0 | 3 | 1.5 |
A HACCP storage reference is also available via Storage temperatures on My sensors.
Alert delay
5 to 60 minutes ("Alert delay (Minutes)" field).
Temperature can spike when a door opens. The delay avoids an alert on every opening. In our example: 15 minutes for a busy kitchen fridge.
Options
| Option | Effect | Our example |
|---|---|---|
| Alerts | This sensor can raise a breach alert. | On |
| Reports | This sensor is included in the daily PDF report. | On |
| Active | Sensor in service. Inactive: no more monitoring. | Yes |
Alerts are sent only if they are also enabled at site level (Notifications).
If you leave without saving, an Unsaved changes confirmation offers to keep editing or leave.
Humidity
If the category allows it (RHT probe), humidity min / max (0 to 100 %) appear. Same logic as temperature. Not applicable in our kitchen fridge example.
After saving
The My sensors card and the dashboard show the new thresholds. Open alerts are not rewritten with the old thresholds: history stays true to what was configured at the time of the incident.
